Shipping Boxes that Protect your Products

Custom Shipping Box

When you are shipping products to your customers, your ultimate goal is to get it to them safely. This relies more on the type of shipping boxes you choose rather than the method of shipping. Yes, the person handling your merchandise could haphazardly throw it around and cause it damage, but in reality, the real protection relies on the right type of packaging. Whether you are shipping large, oddly shaped items or small, fragile items, you need to pay careful attention to the type of packaging they are placed in so that you can ensure their safe arrival.

Determining the Stability of the Product

Your first step is to consider the durability of the product you are shipping. Is it excessively fragile or can it withstand a little bit of handling? Consider the type of handling it will have by the method it will be shipped. Will it be sent with a large amount of other freight? If so, it will likely be handled by a forklift on a pallet. You will not need as much padding as you would need if it was being manhandled by a driver or thrown on a conveyor belt, which causes more damage and is a concern for smaller products and/or shipments. This will help determine the type of boxes for shipping that will suit your products the best.

Determine the Long Lasting Use

Once the product reaches your customer, how do you see them using the box and the product? Will the shipping boxes be used to store the product? If so and the box will consistently be opened and closed, you will want to consider a half-slotted box with cover as the lid can be easily removed and replaced as necessary. If you do not see your customers using the boxes that the items were shipped in to store them and you know the product needs better protection, regular slotted cartons can be used. If your product is especially large or heavy, the RSC double cover box is the perfect choice as it does not require extensive lifting of the product; it contains two covers – a bottom and top cover with the body of the box sliding easily over the product.

Choosing the right shipping boxes to ship your products is the best way to ensure the safety of your products and the satisfaction of your customers in the long run. If you further that benefit by using custom printed boxes, you can further your advertising efforts and your brand awareness, giving you a great return on your investment in your boxes.
